In simple terms a home swap or exchange is where you live in another person's home for a short period, and they come and live in yours. The advantages of such an arrangement are numerous but the key attractions are:-
  You do not have to pay to rent the other person's home - no money changes hands.
  You get to visit countries you may otherwise not be able to afford, and so get to dive in places you might otherwise have to miss.

  You make new friends in the process and get to know the exchange home and the area, before you go. You are exchanging HOME for HOME. Experienced exchangers will tell you this is much better than staying in a hotel, or renting a house or condominium.
