One of the most interesting possibilities of the World Wide Web, that we feel has not been fully utilized, is the making of community. Oh, there are many sites that talk of "their community" but, to us, community is not just members communicating with the central website – it's about them communicating with each other. That's what we are creating - a true community of scuba divers talking to one another, as you would at a local dive center. Only, now you can do it from home or office while reaching out around the world.
Now, you might say "But, I already have a website!" That's fine. Who said we can only have one website each? I've got several. And you can, too. Your xxx.treasurediver.com website can be linked to your other webpages and they can work as one, or you can have one website for one purpose and the other for another purpose. The point is, where could you find such a cool e-mail address as jane@treasurediver.com or sammy@treasurediver.com - with a URL (web address) of http://jane.treasurediver.com or http://sammy.treasurediver.com? — Of course, your site and matching e-mail address will be in your name.
And, the really neat part is, all your e-mail will continue to go to your current e-mail inbox. You@treasurediver.com will simply be a forwarding address, so you won't have to search all over the 'net just to check your e-mail. It will still come to your current inbox automatically.
If you don't have a website yet, this will get you a presence on the web, easily, quickly and without fuss. In fact, we will write the webpages and put them up for you, for the world to see.
There are no lingering, monthly charges. For a one-time fee of US$85 you can have a matching website and e-mail address, the book, donation, and so on.. (It's not the money! The sad fact is, spammers use free services to harass other web-users, then vanish leaving members to clean up the mess. We hope we have set the fee high enough to stop spammers from interfering with this community and low enough to not deter anyone from getting their own 'treasurediver.com' website and e-mail.) This money will be spent on a scubadiving book of your choice, which will be sent to you about 30 days after you join, plus $10 sent to a recognized marine conservation charity in your name. What's left will go towards covering the expenses of this program.
